Nvidia announced last August 20 at Gamescom the release of the long-awaited new generation graphics card, the GeForce RTX 20 series, a family of graphics processing unit developed by the company. The GPU are Turing Powered

Nvidia Turing architecture

The Turing GPUs have been designed with a focus on compute-based rendering, as such they combine traditional rasterized rendering hardware with AI and ray tracing-focused silicon. The individual SMs of Turing have also been redesigned to offer a 50% performance improvement over the Pascal SM design.

It is said that, The Turing-powered Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080 are poised to be the best graphics cards for the games we play over the next few years.

NVIDIA RTX 2080 SPECS

The Founders Edition cards of the new Nvidia Turing generation all sport factory overclocked GPUs with shiny twin axial coolers. That means there is a slight difference in the specs sheet between the reference RTX 2080 and the first cards Nvidia has sent out itself. They still operate the same basic TU104 GPU and that means they’re both rocking some fine-ass silicon inside them.

Despite nominally using a smaller production process with the Turing chips, when compared with the Pascal GPUs – 12nm vs. 16nm – the RTX 2080 is bigger than the GP102 of the GTX 1080 Ti. Now, an extra 74mm2 might not sound like a lot, but that’s a fair jump in scale gen-on-gen. And compared with the 314mmGP104 inside the GTX 1080 you’re talking about a difference of 231mm2.

Intel corporation released a cutting-edge computer processors. The  Intel Core™ X-series. The new Intel Core™ X-series processor family is designed to scale to peoples’ performance and needs by transporting options between 4 to 18 cores for utmost performance. It is said that the processor is ready to install  Intel® Optane™ memory for the users to enjoy, a faster, smooth, and responsive computing experience.

The i9 processor SKUs feature 10 cores on the lowest end with models with 12, 14, 16, and even  18 cores forthcoming as well. The good thing about this is they all feature hyper threading, that means the user can get anywhere between 20 threads and 36 threads. Intel also upgraded  Turbo Boost 3.0, for that reason all core i9s will feature 2 preferred strongest cores for turbo frequencies and overclocking that is better than the other instead of just one core.

The price of i9-7900X starts at $1000 (₱54,030)

The pros and cons of i9-7900X according to some of its users.

Pros

  • Workstation and productivity applications
  • Feature-packed X299 platform
  • Strong performance
  • Far easier overclocking than Haswell and Broadwell
  • 10 cores and 20 processing threads, for $700 less than last year’s comparable chip

  Cons

  • Performance regression in some games
  • Pricing may change when ThreadRipper arrives
  • Hot thermals
  • Software optimisations needed

Death of a star.

swh_bw_34-2560x1709.jpeg

Today, March 14, 2018. The science community has lost one of its brightest stars. The world renowned physicist Dr. Stephen Hawking has died at the age of 76 after a long battle with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) also known as motor neuron disease.  Dr. Hawking is best known for his discovery that black holes emit radiation (called Hawking Radiation) which can be detected by special instrumentation. The immensity of his discovery has made the detailed study of black holes possible. Not only that, Hawking is also contributed different ideas on the origin of the universe, the big bang theory, time, and atheism.

However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up. — Stephen Hawking

My current philosophy in life is attributed to Stephen Hawking

This is a truly heartbreaking news for any man in science community, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family. As I dedicate this post to the man himself, for Dr. Hawking is an inspiration to my studies. Reading his book, A Brief History of Time, changed the way I look on science. I realized that if a disable man can make this far, then I believe that anyone else can.

Be brave,  be determined, overcome the odds! — Stephen Hawking

Also, watching the film “The Theory of Everything” directed by James Marsh is also a good way on knowing how great Stephen Hawking was.

Farewell, my hero.
